Skype sucks big time
Skype sucks in instant messaging. No real offline messages support? Come on, it’s 2008 and even P2P system can have this. Supernodes can store messages waiting for delivery. And Skype still uses own servers for authorization so why not use them for offline messaging? Public chats are sometimes messed with some crazy logs from the past and the messages are not even ordered by timestamps! Huh? Come on, eBay you payed $1.3 billion for this in 2005 maybe you can hire someone who knows how to sort by timestamps?
P.S. Skype 4.0 for windows is just showing that this thing is going straight to the software hell. Microsoft Bob is waiting for you there, Skypee.

The idea here is to be reliable on what matters: voice and video over the network, and they are very very successful at it. No question about that. Concentrate on what matters: The core + of course making money. So if you want top notch voicemail system, you pay. I personally gives 2 thumbs up to skype as it made me, and helped me save much money over the past 5 years.
Also, chats are kind of stored, they will come to you next time the sender logs in.
one big bug though: change your computer clock in the past, and messages come buried way inside the chat history.
Cheers.
